From a very early age, I have had an interest in understanding why others acted in the ways that they did. This interest started within my own family, where I caught on pretty quickly that something was definitely wrong with this group of people. Because of all of the disfunction in my early years, I subsequently found out that there was definitely something “wrong” with me too (or at least it did not feel “right”) and at 25 years old, I sought out counseling to hopefully understand myself and feel better. I was in complete desperation to find a way to stop feeling and acting the way that I did and that was the beginning of my healing journey. Since that time, I have learned so much about myself in ways that I would have never guessed possible and because of this, I have felt compelled to give back to others who find themselves on the same path. My experience has given me the ability to see others from a perspective of compassion as well as seeing their potential. I am able to see clients as already actualized powerful beings who just need support and guidance to get back to the real person they actually are. I am of the belief that clients already possess all of the answers that they are seeking, they just need assistance in getting in touch with them.
My approach is direct and to the point, but at the same time, I am also adept at holding the client in a safe and compassionate space. I work with motivated, high-functioning clients who are committed to the growth process and are willing to engage in new skills. They are open to change and have the courage to take risks. I know that your time and money is valuable, so my objective is that my clients reach their potential and ultimately stop coming to counseling. The field of psychology is constantly evolving and because of that, I focus on keeping up with the latest research through reading books, articles, and training with the world-leaders in the fields of relationship, individual issues, and trauma. I see myself as a lifelong learner and I am always applying what I am learning in my sessions. As a result, I see the benefits in my clients’ progress in treatment and enjoy hearing how well they are doing in their lives. Additionally, I am also a certified health and wellness coach which assists me to holistically address client issues from a body, mind, spirit perspective.
I am so glad you are here. On behalf of Sunflower Counseling and Coaching, welcome!
